In an age of rapid technical advances and cross-training, effective training techniques are critical. An effective tour operation takes training out of the classroom and onto the shop floor, creating a powerful, hands-on experience. Being able to interact in the real working environment, ask on-the-spot questions and synthesize details has significant learning advantages.
There are valuable benefits to onsite training, including significantly decreased training time and costs, and increased effectiveness. But the training is only as effective as the communication that delivers it. Trainees must hear instructions clearly and be able to ask the questions – good systems also preserve the energy and attention of the trainer, and enhance the safety of the group.
